The holidays are over and back to school is just around the corner. Here are a few tips to help you get back to school smoothly!

Get back into a rhythm

During the holidays, the alarm clock is turned off, meals are staggered, evenings are lengthened and rules are relaxed so you can unwind without constraints. But with the start of the new school year just around the corner, it’s important to get back into the swing of things. A few days before the start of the new school year, re-establish more structured timetables and reduce screen time, to make it easier to get back to everyday life and return to school in top form!

Check your supplies

To make sure you’re ready for the start of the new school year, prepare your supplies in advance. Make an inventory of the equipment still in use so that you only buy what you need, and do your shopping a few weeks before the end of the holidays. You can buy supplies in batches, so that you can store and use them as the year progresses. Don’t forget to mark the equipment with your child’s name, to avoid accidental loss or borrowing!

Pack the day before

The day before the start of the school year, check the contents of the pencil case, prepare the schoolbag and choose the clothes for the following day to avoid forgetting anything and avoid last-minute panic. In this way, you’ll make the preparations for the day itself easier and be sure of a relaxed morning so you can get off to a good start without rushing!

Invite friends

For a smooth start, don’t hesitate to invite a few friends from school at the end of the holidays for an early reunion! Your child will feel reassured to have reunited with his or her classmates and will feel confident about returning to the community. Their first steps in the school playground will be a whole lot easier!

Talking about going back to school

Take the time to talk about the start of the new school year and the changes it will bring. Your child will have to adapt to a new environment and get used to new rules, which often provokes fears and questions. Answer their questions and come up with solutions to defuse their worries and help them prepare for the new school year without stress.

Get to know the place

If your child is going to a new school, think about finding out where it is beforehand. Make the journey together to help them find their way around and adjust your journey time as much as possible. If possible, take part in a pre-school visit to familiarise yourself with the premises, meet the teaching staff and discover this new environment without any worries.
